BEST IN BEAUTY: Clean Beauty Finds, May 2017

As a beauty and lifestyle content writer, I'm fortunate to be privy to a slew of amazing products, cutting edge treatments and engaging experiences.

Recently I was given the opportunity to try the following breakthroughs in beauty and I have to say I'm highly impressed. These clean beauty products deserve a space in your beauty cabinet if you're in the market for new and unique skincare!

From left to right (top shelf) plant-based seaweed skincare by @oseamalibu 1) Sea Minerals toner and skin refresher seals in makeup and heals sunburn skin. I use it to freshen up first thing in the morning and love that it's a SUPER FINE soothing mist. 2) Essential Hydrating Oil can be applied directly to the face via the hygienic, cooling roller ball. This is so handy to carry around, especially during flights and really adds a nice moisturized layer to the skin. 3) Vitamin Sea Serum age reversing serum contains hyaluronic acid and green tea for plumping the skin. Again another travel-worthy (and nighttime!) essential. 4) Undaria Algae Oil is a passionfruit oil that delivers delicious moisturization to the skin and scalp--healing and restoring the skin. 5) @hushanddotti makes an ultra convenient and soothing eye balm that's actually fantastic for the entire face and soothes scrapes/sensitivities on the body as well. I use this fair-trade, all-natural, organic shea butter emollient to moisturize my lips and also my son's dry elbows. Love that it's so *spot-on* ready and does the job right quick! (2nd row) 1) @eborian_usa via @sephora let me sample these korean beauty sorbet treats paired nicely for morning and night. These emulsions feature herbs of the Orient and are ultra rich, doing a fine job of nourishing the skin. The microcapsules in the morning blend require a bit more blending, making the nighttime version my instant fave (you really do wake up with dewy, fresh, properly moisturized skin with this one!). 2) @koparibeauty Coconut Body Glow offers a paraben-free, instant vegan golden glow to the legs that's cruelty free and can be applied via an easy-to-use pump. 3) @glossybox and @SpaToYou offer a deep pore cleansing facial brush and massager that I've been really loving lately to take off my makeup in the shower at night. My personal tip...it's also a nice tool to apply a face mask for bath rituals when you can dedicate extra time to your beauty routine. (Thank you for the May Box, Glossy Box!). 4) @Vitruvi via @Goop offers these Eucalyptus and Lavender essential oils that I use to fragrance the home and aid when the family gets sick. I'm a big advocate of using essential oils for asthmatic children and have found these two (*purchased*) oils to be quite helpful sleep aids for my boys.

Disclosure: All the items above minus the essential oils and Tiered-Tray from Pottery Barn were gifted.

Two Fun & Easy Hair Looks For Spring

I often get asked for quick tips on creating pretty hairstyles without too much fuss. I designed these two styles for polished, low-key workdays and celebrating the start of spring. These two looks serve as inspiration for your blog, social feed, or ushering in a new spring wardrobe. Give these styles a whirl and let me know how they worked for you! Tag your take on them using #beautyforbloggers.

The Double Knotted Pony

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Two Clear or Nude Colored Elastic Bands
  • Hair Pins (and a hair clip if you desire for styling assistance)
  • Sectioning Comb
  • Black leather ribbon for an extra dose of style, if desired
  • Holding spray and curling iron, if desired

HOW TO GET THE LOOK

  • Split your hair into two sections at the crown.
  • Place the top section into a ponytail with an elastic band (so your hair resembles a half-up, half-down look).
  • Take a 2 1/2 inch section of hair from your ponytail and wrap it around your hair elastic to disguise the band. Pin the ends close to the scalp once you’ve wrapped the entire length of your hair around the band. Remember to place the pin wavy side down to keep your hold in place.
  • Hold further with hairspray, if desired.
  • Create a low ponytail at the nape of the neck. Repeat the same process of wrapping hair from your ponytail to accent your look.
  • The key to this style is to then tug at each wrapped section to gently elongate the look of each wrapped piece, making the look extra fresh for fall.
  • Lastly, modernize your wrapped section at the nape of the neck even further by adding a slim leather ribbon tied at the middle of the wrap.
  • Add soft curl to your ends and finish with a soft layering of holding spray.

  • Add a French braid to that teased section and wrap it around your hair elastic to disguise the band.
